Born with two spinal deformities, Gayle Ottemiller spent most of her life challenged physically, emotionally, and spiritually. At age 44, Gayle met Christian poet Thomas John Carlyle. Shortly after reading his book, Journey with Job, Gayle experienced the freedom and joy found in a relationship with Jesus Christ – even in the midst of suffering.

Gayle has a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Syracuse University, and for 28 years worked for the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities with developmentally disabled adults. Now retired after having open-heart surgery, Gayle travels and speaks to local churches and groups. She enjoys writing, photography, calligraphy, as well as the German cut-paper craft of Scherenschnitte. Gayle currently lives in Cicero, New York. She is a member of Believer’s Chapel, Cicero. Her book, Faith Lifts (WinePress Publishing, 2010) offers a glimpse of her incredible journey of faith, wholeness, and freedom in Jesus Christ.
